Replacement of Dead Trees on West Side

leyland-cypress-fairmount-heights

On Saturday, June 16, workers will remove the dead trees along the west side of the complex and plant new Leyland Cypruss and Thuja Green Giant trees. These fast-growing evergreens will quickly grow (3-4 feet a year!) to restore the privacy screen and noise buffer to the traffic and neighbors on Main Street.

Garbage, Rubbish, Recycling, White Label?

We have recently had some issues with the improper disposal of unwanted items. A lot of this stemmed from simple misunderstanding. Fortunately, these problems were resolved fairly easily. We will be putting out information so that everyone can easily comply with city waste laws. For now, here are the major highlights:

Household garbage: the FHCA dumpster
Rubbish: Furniture, carpet, toys, non-metal debris go on the curb Tuesday night for pick on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month
Recycling: placed on the curb Thursday night for pickup every Friday AM.
White Items: metal items and appliances require a $10 tag from the city for curb-side pickup by appointment
Computers, TVs, Electronics, Batteries: Brought to the Recycling Center at 15 Green Street

Recycling Pilot Project

To encourage compliance with local recycling laws, a wheeled recycling bin has been placed next to the dumpster. For the next month, we encourage folks to place their recycling (glass, tin, aluminum, plastic only for now) in the bin as they take out their regular garbage. The bin will be placed out on the curb for the Friday morning pickup.

Cardboard, junk mail and newspapers still need to be placed out by the individual Units for the Friday pickup.
